A REVIEW ON FAST DISSOLVING TABLETS

FDTs are dosage forms that are formulated to dissolve/disintegrate rapidly in the saliva generally within few seconds. They are specially designed to overcome some of the problems seen in conventional solid dosage form i.e. difficulty in swallowing the tablet in the elderly and for children, especially for infants. FDTs are structured to dissolve or disintegrate swiftly when coming in contact with saliva generally within 60 seconds (range of 5-60 seconds). Fast dissolving tablets have widely accepted patient compliance and acceptance and may improve biopharmaceutical properties, bioavailability improved efficacy, convenience, and better safety compared with conventional oral dosage forms. The popularity of FDTs has increased fabulously over the last decade. FDTs should be developed for psychotic patients, bedridden, geriatric, pediatric patients, patients who is facing scarcity of drinking water, patients who are travelling most of their time. BULLOUS ERUPTIONS IN A PATIENT OF SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS

FDE is a fairly common drug eruption. Because of recurrences, it is important to recognize FDE and its causative trigger to avoid recurrences in the future by the administration of the same or structurally related drug. FDE is difficult to diagnose when it manifests as atypical cutaneous lesions. Hence, a clinician should be aware of the variants of FDE and be able to differentiate from diseases with similar lesions and detailed drug history should be taken in cases with high suspicion index. Very few cases of FDE (including a case of generalized non-pigmenting bullous FDE) due to Mefenamic acid has been reported previously in the literature. [2][3][4] Mefenamic acid is frequently taken without any medical advice and is usually forgotten by patients. SUPRAMOLECULAR DRUG CARRIERS IN CANCER THERAPEUTICS

Current cancer treatment management and drugs have several limitations like new drug resistance, doselimiting toxicity, the non-specific bio-distribution of the cancer drugs. These several limitations lead to the development of a liposomal drug delivery system very rapidly to cure cancer patients with the limited side effect. Various ways of supramolecular designs have been discussed which can be incorporated alongside drug delivery systems and drug design strategies to improve the treatment of cancer. The long history of the use of macro-cycles as drug carriers, whereby a guest drug is included within a host carrier, is one proven example. Advances in recent years for the creation of supramolecular materials offer opportunities to develop controlled release depots, which may further be designed to respond to a specific biomarker or disease indicator. These materials may themselves elicit drug-like function, either through therapeutic bio-mimicry or through bioactivity associated ...

CURRENT UPDATES ON HERBAL OIL VS SYNTHETIC ANTIBIOTICS USE FOR TOPICAL APPLICATION

Complementary and alternative remedy has given the new wish to reduce the unwanted effects of synthetic drugs. Antibiotics to the above information, we can conclude that the herbal oils are more effective than synthetic antibiotics for topical application. Oils are easily penetrate into the skin barrier for treatment of skin condition. Herbal oils are also beneficial for topical application but they possibility to produce local hypersensitivity reaction and slower the rate of penetration into the skin surface. However, an antibiotic can be bactericidal at excessive dose and bacteriostatic at a minimum dose its effectiveness may be determined through well-known test which may be misleading as predictors of medical efficacy for unique antibiotics. So, that the herbal oils are beneficial to treat skin condition. For complete details visit : Vrushali H Talmale*, Rahul H Kasliwal, Yogesh N Gholse, 2021. AN OVERVIEW OF ENDOMETRIAL HYPERPLASIA

Endometrial Hyperplasia is the abnormal condition of the endometrium. The lining of the endometrium becomes thick due to increased proliferation of the cells (hyperplasia). It is not a cancer but it is a pre-cancerous condition that may lead to cancer. This condition of endometrial proliferation is caused by certain medical conditions such as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), lynch syndrome (hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer), chronic anovulation, obesity etc. Sometimes in rare cases it is asymptomatic or symptomatic such as abnormal uterine bleeding with or without pain, bleeding between periods, menorrhagia etc. On experiencing these symptoms, endometrial samples are collected from the patients. Before collection of samples trans vaginal ultrasound is preferred in order to ensure the endometrial thickness. Endometrial samples are collected by Biopsy, D&C. EH is treated based on the type. Surgery is not considered as the first-line treatment for endometrial hyperpl...

ANALYSIS OF PERI-OPERATIVE BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS IN VARIOUS ANESTHETIC APPROACHES IN NONDIABETIC AND DIABETIC PATIENTS: COMPARATIVE STUDY FROM CENTRAL INDIA

Glycemic regulation is easier in spinal anesthesia than in general anesthesia since the stress response to surgery is comparatively lower. Where necessary, we prefer spinal anesthesia to epidural and general anesthesia for minimizing surgical stress response. Other factors that can influence the stress response and blood glucose level were not addressed in the report. As compared to a similar technique in the nondiabetic community, surgical tension is higher in the diabetic group in both techniques. Wherever possible, regional techniques can reduce a diabetic's response to surgical stress. The need for an intraoperative insulin regimen may not be required in all procedures, but it is more dependent on the length and severity of the procedure. Increased blood glucose levels in general anesthesia may be due to a blunting of the stress response during endotracheal intubation or pain during the intraoperative phase, which were not clarified in the research.  This study attempted to provide the basic data for the development of health education programs for the management of the PMS symptoms in female college students by examining the behavior caused by the exposure to endocrine disruptors in female college students and the degree of the premenstrual syndrome, and understanding the correlation between the variables. There were statistically significant differences in the premenstrual syndrome depending on the risk of an exposure to endocrine disruptors. In addition, there was a significant positive correlation between the exposure to endocrine disruptors and the premenstrual syndrome. Endocrine disruptors may pose a health threat to indi-viduals or their offspring such as women's breast cancer, increased infertility and malformations, attention deficit, and increased number of children with learning disabilities. I think it is very important to remind female college students about the risks that endocrine disruptors pose to the endocri...

STUDY OF SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION FROM CENTRAL INDIA: A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY

In the surgical area, acute intestinal obstruction is still a major surgical emergency. Intestinal obstruction is often caused by postoperative adhesions. Early operative procedures, in combination with clinical diagnosis and radiological findings, may enhance the outcome of acute intestinal obstruction. When clinical and initial traditional radiographic results are inconclusive or strangulation is suspected, a CT scan is recommended for evaluation. While, with a better understanding of pathophysiology, improvements in diagnostic methods, fluid and electrolyte correction, more potent antimicrobials, and intensive care information, mortality from acute intestinal obstruction is decreasing. COMPARISON OF TRAMADOL HYDROCHLORIDE AND DEXMEDETOMIDINE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF INTRA-OPERATIVE SHIVERING IN SUBJECTS UNDERGOING SPINAL ANAESTHESIA

Shivering caused by post-spinal anaesthesia can be effectively treated with Dexmedetomidine and Tramadol Hydrochloride. As compared to Tramadol Hydrochloride, Dexmedetomidine takes less time to suppress shivering. It has an advantage over Tramadol Hydrochloride in that it has less side results such as nausea and vomiting. Shivering is caused by a complex network of neurotransmitter pathways including opioids, -2 adrenergic, serotonergic, and anti-cholinergic receptors. In order to avoid or treat this disorder, drugs that operate on these mechanisms are used. Dexmedetomidine's anti-shivering activity has not been thoroughly studied. Dexmedetomidine, like clonidine, is linked to a reduced incidence of shivering. The vasoconstriction and shivering thresholds were decreased after an intravenous infusion of dexmedetomidine. MULTIPLE APPROACHES IN AYURVEDA FOR PATHO-PHYSIOLOGY IN POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME

It is evident in conclusion that PCOS is an enigma. There is no complete understanding of its fundamental pathophysiology as per modern science. No therapy is a panacea, as therapies have so far been targeted at the symptoms but not at the syndrome itself. To make treatment more effective and to postpone the severe long-term effects of the disease on the health of patients, comprehensive attempts should be made to thoroughly examine the syndrome. In this scenario, Ayurveda throws clear light on the pathophysiology of PCOS. Hence accordingly, treatment for the disorder can be planned. AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE OF SUBCLINICAL HYPOTHYROIDISM

Management of Hypothyroidism with synthetic thyroid hormone derivatives may bring the value of TSH, T3 and T4 to normal range but the daily intake of medicine for lifetime, the known side-effects thereafter and increase in the dosage with time as the disease become chronic, is troublesome for the patients. Also the quality of Life of the patients taking medicine regularly for long durations is compromised. The consequences of Subclinical thyroid disease are minimal, hence routine treatment - Levothyroxineis not necessary. Management of patients with a serum TSH level less than10mIU/L is controversial. Hence, Ayurvedic medicines orformulations can be used as independent therapy in management of Subclinical Hypothyroidism. If Subclinical Hypothyroidism goes untreated, it may lead to Clinical Hypothyroidism in some cases. Hence, Ayurvedic medicines orformulations, which will cure the root cause of the disease by addressing all the factors of Samprapti or pathogenesis of Hypothyroidis...

THE UNIVERSAL MEANING OF THE SAMANYA AND VISHESHA CONCEPT IN PERSPECTIVE OF AYURVEDA

In short, as seen here by the study of three cases, the concept of Samanya and Vishesha has good applicability. Rather, some of these are so robust that they are widely applicable across structures and fields of knowledge, including science, technology, and humanities, as well as science, experience and conventional knowledge systems, as applicable from Ayurveda. In order to justify the need to investigate other Ayurveda concepts from the perspective of broader applicability, the findings have significant implications, which can in turn demonstrate their robustness across information domains. Another implication was that attempts should be made in research studies to recognize the relative effect of Samanya Vishesh in clinical environments. This may provide new insights into the development of more robust clinical approaches. For example, Ayurveda recommends various food products as safe and healthy for the body, but it can be researched to understand the degree of Vishesha t...

People recommend that saturation and fatigue in filtered air or fresh air be minimized by complying with all-natural air ventilation as per WHO guidelines. If the use of fans is inevitable, the possible spread of any airborne or aerosolized viruses can be minimized by the outdoor air exchange and minimizing the air flowing from one person directly to another. Well-controlled and regulated air conditioning and ventilation systems should not raise the risk of transmitting viruses. In single-occupancy rooms, ventilators are safe. When several persons are present in this room, fans for air circulation in collective spaces should be avoided. Both air conditioning and industrial ventilation systems for both residential and high-occupancy buildings (government buildings, schools, hotels, and hospitals) sho...

VAMANAKARMA: AN ANCIENT AYURVEDIC CLEANSING THERAPY

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine; in fact, it is the world’s oldest healing science. Ayurveda means “the science of life”. This is made up of two words – ‘Ayur’ which means “longevity” or “life” and the other is ‘Veda’ which stands for “science”. Ayurveda believes that each individual is unique and made up of three Doshas, that is - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. When these Doshas become assimilated, it will lead to diseases. The digestive fire or Agni is another important aspect that plays a role in overall health. If it is impaired, it may lead to the accumulation of toxins/ poisons and can further lead to various diseases. Hence restoration or strengthening of the Agni and balance of the three Doshas is very essential for good health. For this periodic cleansing is suggested which works both as curative and preventive because of its rejuvenating action. One of the prominent branches of Ayurveda is panchakarma meaning "Five procedures" as it consists of five techn...
