Strategies to improve amiodarone bioavailability in post operative atrial fibrillation

Owing to the poor water-solubility and/or first-pass metabolism leading to a low bioavailability of AMD, several approaches have been studied by scientists for a solution. Inclusion complex and solid dispersions have been effective in improving the solubility of AMD whereas nanomedicine offers an excellent platform for overcoming all the problems of bioavailability. Nanocarriers, liposomes and LNCs have been effectively used in experimental studies for the same. Epicardial application of AMD hydrogels have been clinically evaluated to improve the bioavailability of AMD in post operative atrial fibrillation whereas a bilayered transdermal patch applied on epicardium was also found to be equally effective in goat. Preparation and characterization of a fluocinolone acetonide nanoemulsion as a topical delivery system

This research concluded that Fluocinolone-acetonide is incorporated into nano-emulsion formulation by ultra-sonication technique for the improvement of solubility and absorption. Nanoemulsion is more desirable for the transdermal drug administration because it enhanced absorption rate through skin. Nano-emulsions have characteristics that make them more effective transport system than macro-emulsions as they do not show the problem of agglomeration and sedimentation which are generally associated with macro-emulsions. On the basis of ternary phase diagram and drug solubility test Tween-20, Oleic acid and Polyethylene Glycol 400 was selected and these are eminently used as an appropriate transporting system for introducing Fluocinolone-acetonide for transdermal drug delivery. Five formulations were formulated as per the composition of nano-emulsion. The developed nanoemulsion formulation coded as F1, F2, F3, F4 and F5. Several evaluation parameters such as droplet size distribution...

Antibacterial activity of essential oils and hydrosols extracted from some Moroccan Mentha species (L.)

The antimicrobial activity of the EOs of M. pulegium, M. suaveolens and M. Spicata has been proven. This activity was displayed to be stronger compared to this generated by the hydrosols from the same species. The high concentrations in EOs of carvone and pulegone can be used as an explanation for the traditional uses of these Mentha species for the treatment of microbial diseases. The obtained results about the antibacterial power of HYDs are promising; these HYDs have demonstrated their potency as antibacterial agents since they have exerted an inhibitory effect on some treated bacteria. This potential can be attributed to their richness in the phenolic and alcohol components. On the other hand, the antimicrobial properties of HYDs depended mostly on the individual susceptibility of bacteria. Consequently, the use of HYDs to fight pathogenic bacteria may be possible especially they are tolerable (low organoleptic flavor), highly soluble and not volatile (high stability). These p...

Role of regulatory agencies on covid-19 waste management

We got to the conclusion that there are no precise rules for maintaining COVID-19 linked waste after reading all of the legislation and recommendations or templates provided by WHO, the United States, Europe, Japan, and India. If this trend continues, it may have an impact on not just trash-handling employees, but also the entire ecosystem, since animals and birds may come into touch with COVID-19 associated wastes tossed in an open area, potentially spreading COVID-19. Before COVID-19 waste management becomes a major issue, proper rules must be drafted and implemented by the individual governments. Individuals should be obliged to adhere to the rules. That is how strict the guidelines should be. The guidelines should not just exist on paper; they should be followed appropriately by each individual only then the nation can be saved. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) An update review of biopsy sample, technique, and diagnosis method

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis is an assisted reproductive technology for embryo screening by detecting defects caused by gene and/or chromosomal abnormalities. The ultimate goal of this screening is to prevent implantation of the fetus or limit the risk of transferring embryos carrying genetic disorders. Polar body I and II biopsy are one way to detect genetic disorders that occur in oocytes more safely, the risk of harming the oocyte is less and causing no damage to oocyte development and viability compared to blastomere biopsy and blastocyst biopsy techniques. Polar bodies have the same genetic material as oocytes and the results obtained from the diagnosis of polar bodies are a reflection of the condition of the oocyte. Several techniques can be used for biopsy of polar bodies I and II such as Mechanical Partial Zone Dissection (PZD), chemical zone drilling and laser-assisted dissection. The methods that can be used for the diagnosis of polar bodies are PCR, FISH, CGH array...

Pre-incisional versus post-incisional wound infiltration of bupivacaine for post-operative analgesia in abdominal procedures: a comparative analysis

Wound infiltration is a low-cost, safe, and effective means of controlling post-operative pain. It produces instant analgesia that lasts for a few hours without causing any significant side effects. Preincisional wound infiltration had better post-operative analgesia, as judged by the VAS, than the post-incisional category wound infiltration. Effective pain control promotes early ambulation, which lowers the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE); improves the patient's ability to take deep breaths. Flavonoids and antiepileptic drugs: a comprehensive review on their neuroprotective potentials

According to preclinical research, various specific flavonoi ds have more potent therapeutic value for thetreatment of epileptic di sorders. In addition, quercetin may have moderate therapeutic efficacy in an amygdala kindling model, it is also used to treat refractory epilepsy. While AEDs are beneficial for controlling seizures in epilepsy, 30 to 40% of individual patients with epilepsy do not respond effectively with conventional AED treatment after resistance to the drug. Furthermore, modern AEDs have limited therapeutic potential because of several complications, including dose-related neurotoxicity and altered circulatory processes. Certain flavonoids possess significant synergistic effects and can be taken with particular AEDs to reduce the possibility of drug resistance [47] . As a result, alternative treatments for seizures that are both effective and safe are extremely desirable. Recent research has found that flavonoids, specifically Temporal lobe epilepsy, can help with...

Inguinal hernia surgeries: intra-thecal buprenorphine vs. transversus abdominis plane block with buprenorphine for post-operative analgesic effectiveness

In comparison to patients receiving intra-thecal buprenorphine, patients receiving buprenorphine in TAP block for inguinal hernia procedures reported longer duration of analgesia, lower pain scores, reduced analgesic intake during the first 24 hours, and fewer side effects. However, the analgesic intensity of intrathecal buprenorphine was superior to buprenorphine in TAP block until 4 hours. Buprenorphine is advised as an adjuvant in the era of USG-guided peripheral nerve blocks because it can provide prolonged duration of analgesia without centrally mediated side effects. Limitations of the research: Instead of using ultrasound to administer TAP block, well-trained senior anesthetists used landmark guidance. The VAS values were not calculated based on movement. Breast cancer classification using improved fuzzy c means algorithm

We developed a new methodology for automatic mass detection to aid in the manual identification of masses in mammography images. The suggested project begins by identifying the tumour inside the specified image region of interest using a fuzzy c-means technique, and then verifies the image features (i.e. texture) produced from the FCM input data using the GLCM feature texture to help in the segmentation process. As can be observed, the suggested methodology's results were more closely matched with those from the Mini-MIAS database, demonstrating that the suggested technique is capable of properly and automatically extracting masses from ROI. Chronobiology and chrono pharmacology with reference to consequences and management of shift work

It has been unequivocally established that chronobiology and chrono pharmacology are symbiotic constituents which affects the human psychological and physiological processes. Shift workers may treat with chronotherapy to get the healthier results. However, the chronotype, life style, and longevity preference of shift workers has not yet been addressed adequately. It is also not known if shift work modulates human personality with special reference to personality traits. Further, issues involving social satisfaction, social disruption and job satisfaction among shift workers and more especially among Indian shift workers are not yet properly evaluated. It is also not known if shift work has any negative effect on human longevity. It is indeed striking that in a country like India, where about 30-40% of its total work force might be working shifts, research in the domain of shift work is yet to develop.
